EBRD is interested in offering privatisation assistance

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is interested in funding companies that intends to carry out investments in Romania and also in providing consultancy to Romanian authorities, Romania's Economics Minister Varujan Vosganian said Thursday after a meeting with a visiting EBRD delegation

'We discussed with EBRD our intention to privatise companies in which the Romanian Government owns stakes. The EBRD has displayed interest in funding companies intending to carry out any kinds of investment in Romania. They can also provide us privatisation assistance,' said Vosganian.


The EBRD delegation comprised Managing Director for Central and Eastern Europe Jean-Marc Peterschmitt and EBRD Country Manager James Hyslop, and the meeting marked the takeover by Hyslop of the office of director of the EBRD Resident Office in Romania.
