Romania, interested in drawing Israeli investments in aeronautical industry, renewable energy

Romania is interested in drawing Israeli investments in fields where Israel holds an important potential, such as information technology, aeronautical industry, renewable energy, agri-technology, research and development, informs a Thursday's release from the Ministry of Economy

Those aspects were examined on Wednesday by the Romanian Minister of Economy Varujan Vosganian and Israeli's Ambassador in Bucharest, His Excellency Dan Ben-Eliezer, in a meeting occasioned by the forthcoming visit of the Romanian senior official to Tel Aviv, Haifa and Jerusalem.

Also tackled during the meeting were issues regarding bilateral trade, with the two officials agreeing that the collaboration opportunities can develop the relations between the two countries. They also agreed that closer contacts between the two countries' business communities are necessary, both by organizing mutual trade missions, as well as by participating in the international exhibitions of interest held in Romania and in Israel, even if the trade exchanges were in 2012 by 17 percent higher than in the previous year, and the Romanian exports grew by 25 percent.

Last but not least, the two senior officials reviewed the joint economic issued discussed during the contacts made in the past two years and highlighted the importance of holding this year the Romanian-Israeli Joint Governmental Committee to establish the fields and projects of interest within the bilateral cooperation.

In the first 11 months of 2012, bilateral trade exchanges amounted to USD 386.9 million (by 17.1 percent more than in the same period of 2011), of which the Romanian export was worth USD 221.6 million (on the rise by 24.5 percent), while the imports from Israel stood at USD 165.3 million (up by 8.5 percent). Trade balance was positive, having recorded USD 56.3 million.
