Romania's trade deficit up to 8.67 billion euros in first eleven months of 2012

Romania's FOB-CIF trade deficit exceeded 38.67 billion lei over the first eleven months of 2012, 2.35 billion lei more compared to the same period of the previous year, reveal the estimated data of the National Institute of Statistics

According to the quoted source, the FOB (free on board) exports amounted to 186.5 billion lei between January 1 and November 30, and the CIF (cost, insurance, freight) imports amounted to 225.2 billion lei.
 

On a year-on-year basis, the exports went up by 5 percent in values expressed in the domestic currency, but went down by 0.2 percent in values expressed in Euro. Imports increased by 5.3 percent in values in the domestic currency and remained about the same in Euros.
 

According to the INS, over the first eleven months of last year, the value of intra-community goods exchanges was 131.6 billion lei for outlets and 166.1 billion lei for inlets, representing 70.6 percent of the total exports and 73.8 percent of total imports.
 

The major percentages in the structure of exports are represented by machines and vehicles (40.5 percent for export and 33.6 percent for import), other manufactured products (34.3 percent for export and 29.6 percent for import).
 

The INS data reveal that the FOB exports amounted to 19 billion lei in November 2012, according to preliminary estimations, and the CIF imports amounted to 20.9 billion lei.
 

Compared to November 2011, exports went up by 5.3 percent for values expressed in the domestic currency (and 0.9 percent at values in Euros), and imports dropped 5.5 percent in values expressed in the domestic currency (9.5 percent in values expressed in Euros).
 

Compared to October 2012, exports in November last year were about the same in values in the domestic currency and Euros as well. On the other hand, imports decreased by 13.3 percent in values expressed in the domestic currency and 13.1 percent in Euros.
 

FOB-CIF trade deficit in November 2012 was 1.8 billion lei, smaller than November 2011.
