The project will have more than 100 stores and a Carrefour hypermarket. An extensive green area of 15,000 square meters, with parks, children's playgrounds, sports fields and terraces will supplement the commercial offer of the new mall.
"We have chosen the name „Veranda” because we are bringing a breath of fresh air into the agglomeration of Obor. We are builduing a proximity shopping center, which respects the tradition of the area. It is a new concept for the Romanian market – we are offering very accessible stores, a welcoming food court and the most extensive green area dedicated to a retail project in Romania so far. Thus, we want to contribute to the commercial revival of Obor district, but also to offer to its residents more leisure alternatives. It will be a unique place in Bucharest, which transforms a former industrial platform into a welcoming and vivid space, accessible to all", said Andrei Pogonaru, member of the Board of Administration of Prodplast Imobiliare S.A.
The investment in the project stands at EUR 60 million.
The shopping center will offer its clients a wide variety of stores, organized on two levels, totalling 25,000 square meters of commercial spaces. Carrefour is an anchor and a strategic partner of the project, with a long-term lease agreement. The food court will be placed at the main entrance.
”Veranda” also offers 1,200 parking spaces, available to visitors. Thus, the shopping center will relieve traffic congestion in an area with insufficient parking spaces.
Nearly half a million people live within less than 10 minutes away on foot or by car; of these, several tens of thousands come to shop in the area everyday. The mall will be very accessible, being served by 16 RATB public transport lines and by the subway station "Obor", located less than 400 meters away.
"Veranda" was designed by the British architects "Chapman Taylor" and will be finalized in 2016. CBRE Romania is the exclusive leasing agent of the mall.
